If you are interested in joining the lab, please read the following
Work in the lab uses genomic tools to study human evolution, ecology, and health. Most of this work focuses on subsistence-level populations that are currently transitioning to more urban and market-integrated lifestyles. Trainees that join the lab should have interests that are aligned with these themes, though their specific projects may incorporate methods, data types, or intellectual frameworks that are new to the lab. Most projects in the lab involve the collection and analysis of genomic data, and students should expect to spend much of their time engaged in computational work (as well as wet-lab and/or field work, depending on the project). Therefore, students should ideally have a strong quantitative background, and/or an interest in developing skills in bioinformatics and statistics.
I can accept PhD students through direct admission to the Department of Biological Sciences or through the Interdisciplinary Graduate Program (IGP). IGP students can then chose to affiliate with Biological Sciences or Human Genetics for their degree.
We are committed to increasing diversity in STEM, and especially encourage individuals that identify with groups underrepresented in the sciences to join the lab. Our goal is to provide a supportive environment for everyone.
If you decide that your interests are a good fit for the lab, send me an email with the following information:
I look forward to hearing from you!
